Our History

Annaclone Senior men Teams

Established in 1896, our club is dedicated to serving the local community and promoting Gaelic games, including Football, LGFA, and Scór. Over the years, Annaclone has celebrated numerous success at both senior and underage levels.

The club had various previous grounds during the early to mid-1900s, including Bob’s Meadow, Johntys Corner, McGiverns Meadow, Gribbens Meadow, McCartans Meadow and Fitzpatrick’s Meadow. In the 1940s, the club leased McNeills Field and remained there until the 1970s.

As always, through local sponsorships, the club acquired the land for their current grounds and on Sunday 14th May 1972, Gaelic Park was officially opened. This comprised of a pitch, some changing rooms and small gravel area. Over the next 50 years, the club would see a new hall, new changing rooms, a 3G and a gym all added to the grounds.

As our club has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, we urgently need to enhance our facilities to secure our future.

In the space of a short 10 years, our community and the popularity of Gaelic games has increased significantly. With our increase memberships comes increased pitch usage and needs. Currently we only have one grass pitch and during the playing season training times is limited. So our growth has created a need for us to develop our facilities to include a 2nd grass area for training.

As a rural club we currently have teams in both GAA and LGFA from Nursery, U6, U8, U10, U14, U16 and minor through to our Senior Men and Ladies.
